Artist's Description

After a long courtship, I made a photograph I had in mind for a long time.

I had been observing that solitary cypress that surmounts a hill in the landscape of the Crete Senesi for many years.

But it didn't show how I wanted it to.

I was looking for an intense and dramatic black and white in the contrasts of the sky, and a light texture with few disturbing elements on the rolling hills.

Or rather: I chased low moving clouds and a light plowing that showed the lunar essence of the Crete, the worked clay.

And finally, in one of the last days of November 2020, all the stars aligned, and I transformed what I had only imagined so far into a photograph.

Location: Crete Senesi, Siena province, Tuscany region, Italy

About Stefano Orazzini

Stefano Orazzini

I am an award-winning photographer based in Italy, featured on all major media channels such as National Geographic, The Times, Huffington Post, The Telegraph, Lonely Planet, and more. I still believe that the ultimate goal of photography is to be PRINTED. This is why I chose Fine Art photography. Because it gives substance to what I do. When a photograph is printed as artwork to hang on a wall, it becomes a memory you can touch, providing a more profound emotion.
